The Albany Athletic Booster Club held its kickoff meeting for the 2022-23 school year Sunday, July 17.

Booster Club member Amanda Tabor said boosters were able to achieve almost all of the items on the agenda.

“We got pretty much everyone signed up for something at Ice Cream Supper – a coordinator for the year or for team parents,” Tabor said. “Kristie Smith is heading up our Ice Cream Supper. We had a couple of positions left, but we put a signup genius on our Facebook page for those few jobs, like grillers or somebody to haul ice.”

Tabor said all coordinator and team parent positions were filled at Sunday’s meeting.

“It was very successful,” she said. “We had a good turnout.”

Tabor announced some changes in Booster Club projects for this year, most of which will be evident at the Ice Cream Supper, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8 at the Bank Park.

Preorders for varsity A’s will be taken, Tabor said, with the signs will be sold at the Ice Cream Supper.

“The ag department can’t catch people during the year,” Tabor said. “We want to make sure everyone gets theirs. I’ll be there at that table.”

Another difference is that team shirts will be available for sale instead of preordering them as they have been the past few years.

“We’re going to actually have shirts and merchandise to purchase at the Ice Cream Supper,” Tabor said. “If somebody wants to get a shirt for the football team, the volleyball team, or cross country, those will be available.”

Tabor said the Booster Club will be able to accept credit cards for all purchases.

Tabor added that ad sales for football programs are underway.

“There are five of us selling, and we’ve already started,” she said. “We didn’t change any of the prices.”

Tabor said future Booster Club meetings will be held as needed.

“Meeting times will depend on how things go from Ice Cream Supper on,” she said. “We try to do a monthly meeting, but all of us have multiple children in multiple sports, so it was kind of hard to get together last year.”
