The Albany Athletic Booster Club’s annual kick off meeting for the upcoming school year  took place Wednesday evening, July 1, at The Feed Store, and although members are working on raising funds for the new school year by selling ads in the annual football program, details were not available before press time this week.

Ad costs and sizes will be reported in a future edition of The Albany News.

The magazine-type 2020 football program is expected to be sold at all of the home football games and is one of the Booster Club’s biggest fundraisers.

“All money raised from sales of the ads goes to the Booster Club,” said current secretary Tisha Wilkins. “We support all Albany High School athletes and cheerleaders throughout the season, and we help coaches with ‘wish list’ items that sometimes do not fit into their budget at school.”

Ads in the program can be for any athlete, cheerleader, student, or business, and are not just for football players or seniors, according to Wilkins.

Local parents, individuals, and business owners who wish to be included in the 2020 Albany Lion home football programs should get in touch with a member of the Albany Athletic Booster Club if they are not contacted within the next couple of weeks.

“Purchasing an ad is a way to show off and support any child at the school, whether they are in athletics or not,” said Wilkins. “Money raised from sale of the ads goes to help support all of the high school and junior high sports, and it is also an inexpensive advertisement for your business. If you would like to place an ad, you can contact me at 325-660-7443.”

The football program ad sales, along with proceeds from the Hamburger Supper and the concession stand, are the main ways that the Albany Athletic Booster Club raises money to support the local athletes.
