Alli Scott competes well at Breck

Moran’s Alli Scott was the high-point girl Saturday, March 26 at the Buckaroo Relays in Breckenridge.

Scott scored 34 points, putting Moran sixth in the girls team standings.

Scott won the 100 hurdles in 16.75 seconds and finished second in the 300 hurdles (51.30), high jump (5-0), and long jump (15-0½).

Moran had five girls and five boys competing at the meet.

“I was proud of the work they put in,” coach John Hughes said. “We were the only 1A school there.”

For the Lady Bulldogs, Alyssa Allred ran 16.05 in the 100 and 36.88 in the 200. Emily Murk ran 1:13.27 in the 400, and Harmony Slaughter ran 9:40.21 in the 1600 in addition to competing in the shot put and discus. Samantha Hinkle also competed in the throwing events.

For the Moran boys, Tyler Waddell ran 59.37 in the 400, missing a spot in the finals by 0.53 seconds.

The trio of Arren Hawley, Connor Hail and Caleb York ran the 100 and 200. Hawley clocked respective times of 12.28 and 26.56, while Hail ran 12.31 and 27.22, with York timed at 13.52 and 28.46

Waddell, York, Hail, and Hawley also competed in the 400 relay, running 49.78, while Riley Noble competed in the shot put and discus.

After spending most of the spring competing at meets with Class 2A and 3A schools, Moran ran Thursday, March 31 (today) at the Tiger Relays at May. The District 13-1A meet is scheduled for April 14 at May.

Taking The Court

Moran had nine athletes participating at the District 13-1A tennis tournament Wednesday, March 30 at Eastland. Results will be reported next week.

Coach Jo Hise said Moran had two girls double team, a boys doubles team, a mixed doubles team, and a boys singles player entered.

The top two finishers in each draw at district qualify for the Region II-1A tournament April 11-12 at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo.

Junior High Track

Moran’s junior high district track meet was rescheduled from Monday, March 28 at May to Friday, April 1 at Cross Plains.
