Albany’s 7A girls win tourney
The junior high Lady Cubs have been busy over the last week, with the 7A team winning their division at a tournament on Saturday in Hawley.
The pace will slow down over the next week, with only one game scheduled next Tuesday, Oct. 2 against Strawn at 4:00 p.m.

“They all had some great serves to win all three matches,” coach Ginger Norton said. “they played well as a team and encouraged each other.”

Scoring totals for all three games were Chloe Broadus 10, Ella Webb 16, Presley Green 14, Briley Tabor 8, Haily Cox 28, and Brooke Kayga 25.
“This was a good tournament for us,” coach Sara Wilson said. “We had to make adjustments since our setter was out for the day. Chloe Broadus moved into that position and she did a nice job setting and making plays at the net.”
The coach said the offense did a good job serving, passing, and hitting the ball.
“We are struggling on defense with our positions,” Wilson said. “But I’m pleased overall with their progress.”
