Albany players singled out for Preps honors

Several Albany baseball players were placed on the Big Country Preps teams recently.
Senior William Webb was named to the Big Country Preps All-Hustle Team for baseball.
The award was announced Sunday by BCP to “honor players, male and female, who were the hardest-working, best teammates in the area this spring.”
The All-Hustle team includes players who participated in either softball or baseball during the spring.
Webb, who was also first team All-District, was singled out for his “hard work and dedication.”
“William played first base for us this year on a team that went 22-5-1,” coach David Fairchild said. “He was a fighter who was always at practice and ready to go. He is the guy that stayed after practice to get more cuts.”
Fairchild praised Webb’s work ethic.
“If we were on the road, he would show up early to hit on his own before we left,” the coach said. “Then he would get more cuts at the field we traveled to.”
Fairchild said that Webb was the “most dependable and hardest worker on and off the field I have had in a long time.”
According to the BCP, the All-Hustle team honors effort, discipline, toughness, coachability, and selflessness – “traits that coaches wish they had in every player and upon which championships are built.”
