Albany to play in Coach pitch tourney

Three Albany teams advanced to the semifinals of the Texas West District 5 tournament County Bracket before being eliminated.

Four Albany teams hosted games on Tuesday, May 23, but thunderstorms in the area forced two games to be suspended and completed the next night.

In the Majors division, the Oilers were the first local team to be eliminated, losing 5-4 to Clyde 2.

In the Minors division, the Indians defeated Clyde 1 8-3 and the Eagles beat the Jim Ned Hawks 9-1. In the semifinals, played Thursday, May 25, the Indians lost to the Snyder Padres 13-12, while the Eagles lost to the Merkel Bankers 12-4.

In the Intermediate division, Albany defeated the Haskell Bluecats in one of the suspended games before losing to the Clyde Yankees. Scores were not available.

Next up for Albany Little League is a Coach Pitch tournament on Saturday, June 10 at a location to be determined.

All-star competition for Majors and Minors will begin Friday, June 16. All-star selections are yet to be announced.

The Intermediate team has concluded its season.
