Albany, Moran athletes earn FCA All-Star honors

By Sam Waller

Four high school seniors from Albany and one from Moran have been selected for the 26th Big Country FCA All-Star Festival, which will be held the first week of June.

The all-star selections were announced Sunday, Feb. 16 at a parents meeting in Abilene.

The Shackelford County selections are all in different sports. Albany’s Chip Chambers was named to the Red baseball team, Abi Hale to the Red volleyball team, Landon Balliew to the Red football team, and Myleigh Leveridge to the cheer squad, while Moran’s Ellis Hise will play for the Red men’s basketball team.

Local FCA representative Paul Johnston said this year’s festival will see some changes with a few events moving to new locations and others altering start times.

“Baseball and softball are in Brownwood,” Johnston said. “Everything else is in Abilene. Vollyball will be on Thursday evening and basketball games on Friday evening.”

The all-stars will report to their respective host cities on Tuesday, June 3 with media day for all sports that afternoon at Abilene Christian University’s Wildcat Stadium.

Volleyball, baseball and softball will all play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5. Volleyball will play at ACU’s Moody Coliseum with baseball and softball at Brownwood High School.

The women’s basketball game is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Moody Coliseum with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Football will be played at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, a departure from its previous evening start.

Cheer will attend all Abilene events.
