The JV Lions blanked the visiting Dublin -Lions, 32-0, in the home opener for Albany’s JV last Thursday at Robert Nail Stadium.

The team will be on the road this week in Eastland on Thursday (today). The Mavs are also hosting an opponent to play against their freshmen squad starting at 5:00 p.m., with the JV Lions following at about 6:30 p.m.

The junior high games will be played in Albany to allow Eastland to play a freshman game at home.

The win over Dublin last week improved the JV to 2-0 for the season.

Albany’s first score came on a 10-yard run by Robert Bailey, followed by a two-point pass from Cade Neve to Brooks Neece.

Neece later scored on a five-yard run, with Everett McWhorter catching the two-point pass from Neve to give the JV a 16-0 lead.

The third score came on a five-yard run by Bailey, followed by a conversion pass from Neve to Jackson Chapman.

The final tally came in the fourth quarter on a 26-yard run by Dillon Hindman. Neece carried in the two-point play to end the scoring at 32-0.

“We moved the ball well on offense,” coach David Fairchild said. “The backs all ran hard and Cade Neve did a good job controlling the offense as well as making some good runs.”

On the defensive side, both Neece and Devan Henson had a fumble recovery. McWhorter was credited with an interception.
