Albany hosts round-robin tennis meet April 2

The Albany tennis program hosted a three-team, round-robin event Tuesday, April 2 with freshman singles players taking on opponents from Breckenridge and Eastland.

On Wednesday, April 3, some of the regular lineup participated in a tournament at Vernon. Results will be reported next week.

On Thursday, April 11, Albany will play in the Abilene Christian tournament at Rose Park Tennis Center.CoachM.J.Reneau said she hopes to add one last tourney the week of April 15 before the District 10-2AtournamentonApril 22-23.

On Tuesday, Casey Estridge and Braeten Street went 3-0, while Christian Hernandez went 1-2 in boys matches. In girls, Hattie Braly went 0-4 and Charlee Hefner went 0-2, bothdroppingatiebreaker.

“The main thing was we got some matches in,” Reaneau said. “It was very windy, but the kids played well.”

Girls Singles

Hattie Braly lost 2-8, lost 8-9 (5-7), lost 4-8, lost 4-8.

Charlee Hefner lost 2-8, 8-9 (4-7).

Boys Singles

Christian Hernandez won 8-4, lost 4-8, lost 3-8.

Casey Esteridge won 8-2, won 8-3, won 8-5.

Braeten Street won 8-1, won 8-3, won 8-2.
