JV Girls Results

The JV Lady Lions had a tough week as well, ending the season with two losses.

Albany was edged out 27-24 by Anson on Feb. 2.

“The girls tried very hard during the game, and I was proud of their efforts,” coach M.J. Reneau said. “We did a great job adjusting our zone to take away their high post and limit their scoring. It was a close game the entire time, and we just came up a little short.”

Robin Lucas and Ashlyn Holson were named offensive standouts, while Brooklyn Abbate and Lucas were defensive standouts.

Scoring were Maci Hatchett 2, Robin Lucas 6, Ashlyn Holson 9, Callan Edgar 5, and Jaci Chapman 2.

The JV also lost in the season finale to Stamford, 32-11.

“Stamford had a tough half-court press that we struggled with in the first half,” Reneau said. “We adjusted at the half and did a better job, driving to the basket and shooting several free throws.”

The coach added that she saw considerable improvement in the team over the course of the season.

Albany 2 3 4 2 - 11

Stamford 6 8 15 3 - 32
