Four members of the Albany Lions boys basketball team were honored by bigcountrypreps.com with inclusion on the website’s all-area team this week.

Cole Chapman was named as a reserve on the third team, while Coy Lefevre, London Fuentes, and Adam Hill received honorable mention. Hill was also included on the Rising Stars team of the area’s top freshmen and sophomores.

The quartet was instrumental in Albany posting an 11-7 record and reaching the area round of the playoffs despite getting a late start after football season.

“It was good to see these guys get honored,” coach Ryder Peacock said. “We ask a lot of them, and I like seeing them in there with other guys from bigger schools.”

Chapman, a 6-3 junior forward, averaged 15 points and 6.5 rebounds and was named offensive MVP in District 10-2A.

Lefevre, a junior guard, averaged 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in earning first-team all-district honors.

Fuentes, a junior guard, averaged 8.5 points, 3.4 assists and 2.0 steals. He was a second-team all-district pick.

Hill, a 6-2 sophomore forward and first-team all-district, averaged 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds.

Academic All-District

Nine Albany basketball players were recognized for their achievements in the classroom with inclusion on the Academic All-District 10-2A team. Students must maintain an average of 90 or above in core classes for the third and fourth six weeks.

For the Lady Lions, sophomores Braylyn Abbate and Kiana Roberson and freshman Avery Everitt were honored.

“It’s nice when you don’t have to check grades for these kids," girls coach Tate Thompson said. “That’s one less thing to deal with during the season.”

Named to the boys all-academic team were senior Luke Ivy, juniors Keatin Russell, Coy Lefevre, and Cole Chapman, and sophomores Luke Marshall and Adam Hill.

“I always like to see guys honored academically,” Peacock said. “These guys put in the time both on the floor and in the classroom.”
