AJHS to open 2019 season

Both junior high football and volleyball programs are slated to start competition on Thursday (today).

Volleyball teams will host Wylie East at 4:30 p.m. with the seventh grade teams playing in the auxiliary gym and the eighth grade in the main gym.

A total of 32 girls have been divided into four groups, with an A and B team for each grade level.

Dakota Fowler coaches the eighth grade teams, while Ginger Norton will handle the seventh graders.

The junior high girls will take the court again Sept. 17. The seventh graders will host Abilene Christian starting at 4:30 p.m. The 8A girls will travel to Newcastle for a 4:00 p.m. game.

The Cubs football teams will travel to Dublin on Sept. 5 to start the season. The seventh grade will kick off at 4:00 p.m., with the eighth grade following at about 5:00 p.m.

The Cubs will play four straight weeks on the road, followed by an open date. The first home game will be on Oct. 10 against Stamford.

The Cubs will travel to Eastland next Thursday, Sept. 12 for games set to start at 5:00 p.m.
