The JV and varsity Lady Lions hosted Comanche on Nov. 24, both dropping games prior to the holiday break.

The girls were in action again on Tuesday in Aspermon, with the varsity losing the bout 52-36.

Details were not available at press time but will be reported next week.

The Lady Lions will be on the road again Friday at Highland for games starting at 4:00 p.m. The boys teams will also make the trip for a full set of games.

The girls will play at home on Saturday, Dec. 5, hosting the Eula Lady Pirates starting at 4:00 p.m. for the JV and 5:15 p.m. for the varsity.

Fans can purchase tickets in advance online for the girls’ session starting at 4:00 p.m. All tickets are $4 per person and are available only on the school’s website.

Tickets for all out-of-town games must also be purchased online in advance in order to control the number of seats sold because of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Lions are scheduled to play Ballinger in three boys games on Saturday in the same gym, starting at 12:00 p.m. Tickets for that session are separate from the girls’ games and must also be purchased online.

Fans are being allowed to purchase a season pass to all home games for junior high and high school teams in person at the superintendent’s office or high school office for a cost of $60 per person. The number of season tickets is limited. Ticket holders will have their name added to a season pass list that will be checked at the gate for each game.

Season passes apply to home games only.

The varsity girls are hosting Richland Springs for one game only on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Comanche Results

The varsity girls fell to Comanche, 37-33, before the break.

“We were very raw then,” coach Tate Thompson said. “In fact, that was the first game we played with our entire team together after the volleyball playoffs.”

Alli Hill was named the offensive standout for the game, scoring 10 points.

Also scoring were Torie Fuentes 2, Brylee Moore 7, Cydney Nelson 3, Briley Tabor 5, Tana Thompson 4, and Lizzie Chavez 2.

“We missed a lot of easy shots around the basket,” the coach said. “I believe that had a lot to do with fatigue. It is going to take us a while to get into game shape, but this group of seniors will rise to the challenge.”

The JV girls lost their game against Comanche, 30-19.

“It was a rough first game for the JV girls,” coach M.J. Reneau said. “They showed great fight, but we couldn’t pull out the win.”

Scoring for the JV were Robin Lucas 6, Ashlyn Holson 5, Callan Edgar 2, and Kiana Roberson 6.
