Members of the Albany High School varsity Lion baseball team were awarded a number of positions on the District 8-2A All-District team, including four of the top superlative honors.

Three Albany players were picked as first team Outfielders including junior Cooper Fairchild, junior Luke Ivy, and sophomore Caden Price.

The team’s head coach David Fairchild was named the Coach of the Year by the district.

“I thought that we were represented well in the selections,” Fairchild said. “It was a very competitive district with three teams making deep runs in the playoffs.

The Anson Tigers finished in second place in the district race, advancing to the regional final last week where New Deal ended their chance to get to the state tournament.

The Lions faced the Hawley Bearcats, who finished in fourth place in district, during the third round.
