The Albany Lady Lions claimed eight spots on the All-District 6-2A volleyball team, including three superlative honors.

Albany went 24-9 overall and 7-1 in district to share the championship with Hawley. The all-district team was selected by district coaches and announced last week following Hawley’s elimination from the playoffs.

“As always, I wasn’t ready for our season to end,” said Lady Lions coach M.J. Reneau, who was named co-Coach of the Year. “This was such a fun and coachable group of girls. I’m so proud, and I loved watching this group come together over the season.”

Robin Lucas was named Defensive MVP with Abi Hale sharing Setter MVP honors.

Named to the first team were Kiana Roberson, Caroline Holson, and Gracie Price. Ella Webb and Caroline Chapman were named to the second team.

Every varsity player earned academic all-district honors. In addition to players named above, Brooke Kayga, Callan Edgar, Braylyn Abbate, and Brooklyn Abbate earned honors.

“We will miss our three seniors (Price, Webb, and Kayga) so much,” Reneau said. “Not only did this group work hard on the court, all 11 of them received academic all-district. We are looking forward to next year as we have will several returners.”

Hale led the Lady Lions in serving attempts (493) and aces (105), with Holson second in both categories (439 and 85).

Lucas led the team with 438 digs, followed by Hale with 272.

Hale also led Albany with 663 assists. Edgar was second with 13.

Roberson and Holson ranked 1-2 in both kills and blocks. Roberson had 262 kills and 26 blocks. Holson had 187 kills and 21 blocks.
