7th grade volleyball girls end season undefeated

The seventh and eighth grade Lady Cubs volleyball teams have had a successful run over the last two weeks, with the seventh grade ending the season undefeated
The eighth graders will finish out their season with a game on Tuesday, Oct. 27 in Strawn, set to start at 4:30 p.m.
The eighth graders defeated Abilene TLC on Oct. 6 in two sets, 25-18, 25-21. The team also hosted Newcastle on Oct. 13, earning a 25-8, 25-12 win. The team beat Rising Star 25-14, 25-1 on Sept. 22.
The older Lady Cubs suffered their first loss this week to Hawley, 11-25, 8-25.
“We have been undefeated all season until the Hawley game this week,” coach Dakota Fowler. “The girls have improved over the season, with Avery Everitt standing out the most. She stepped up and played any position I needed her to play with a wonderful attitude all year.”
The coach also commended Katie Breeden for stepping up to improve her serves and “doing a wonderful job on the front row.”
Fowler said that she has enjoyed coaching the team this season.
The seventh grade Lady Cubs finished their season in Hawley on Monday with a perfect 6-0 record. Albany defeated Hawley 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.
The seventh grade also defeated Abilene TLC Oct. 6 in two sets, 25-0, 25-6.
Leading at the service line were Mimi Ivy 37, Jayden Clark 5, Avarie Myrick 2, and Braylee Clark 1.
“The girls have worked together to improve with each game this season,” coach Ginger Norton said. “I am proud of their work ethic and leadership.”
