The Albany Volleyball Camp was held Monday-Wednesday, June 27-29 with about 50 campers ranging from incoming first graders through ninth graders participating.

“That’s a great number considering it’s right after Fandangle,” Albany volleyball coach M.J. Reneau said. “It’s been pretty even with about 15, 15 and 20 in the different sessions.”

Reneau said she was pleased with the number of repeat campers.

“It’s fun to watch them grow and see how much they’ve improved,” Reneau said. “A lot of them have told me the things they remembered from last year’s camp.”

The camp was one of several conducted in the past month by Albany coaches.

Still to come is the Little Cubs Cheer Camp and junior high cheerleader camp, set for Monday-Wednesday, July 25-27.

The Little Cubs Cheer Camp is for 3 years old up to incoming sixth graders.

Sessions will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. with instruction by Albany’s varsity and junior high cheerleaders.

Each day of the camp will have a theme – Tie Dye for Monday, Rock & Roll for Tuesday, and Camo shirt/uniform for Wednesday. Cheer items will be for sale all three days of the camp.

Camp participants will be asked to perform with their groups in August at the Albany Athletic Booster Club’s Ice Cream Supper.

Cost is $35, with $20 requested for each additional family member. Registration forms are available at Nancy Smith Elementary School and other locations around town.

Completed forms and payment may be mailed to Albany Cheer, ATTN: Nickie Leveridge, P.O. Box 2050, Albany TX 76430.

For more information, contact Leveridge through  Facebook.

Junior high cheerleaders will hold their camp in the afternoons following Little Cubs Cheer Camp.
