Three local junior high runners received medals at Hamlin on Sept. 26 by placing in the top 15 in their divisions.

For the fourth straight meet, eighth grader Isaiah Carrillo brought home a medal. He was first among 40 junior high boys for the top spot.

“There were many larger schools at this meet, including some 4A teams, so that is a big accomplishment for Isaiah,” said coach Tate Thompson.

Ashlyn Holson and Sidney Russell, who ran with 62 other seventh grade girls, were 12th and 15th respectively.

The coach commented that the team is still experiencing some injuries at the high school level.

“We are focusing on getting healthy in time for the district meet,” he said.

Hawley will host the district competition next Wednesday, Oct. 10.
