3 Lions named to all-state team

Three Albany baseball players have been recognized with spots on the Class 2A all-state baseball team by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
Cade Neve, who was a sophomore last spring, was named to the third team all-state as a pitcher. He was a first-team pick for the All-Big Country team with an 11-3 record on the mound. He had an ERA of 1.56 and struck out 83 batters.
Senior Joshua Dyer received honorable mention as a relief pitcher and short stop from the TSWA.
Also, junior Ben West was given honorable mention as a pitcher on the state team.
Albany advanced to the state tournament for the second time in three seasons, losing to eventual state champs Big Sandy in the semifinal round, 4-1, going 23-8 for the season.
