2020 Lions earn football honors

Six members of the Albany High football team were recognized recently by being named to the Big Country Preps All-Big Country team.

Seniors Ryder Wilkins, offensive lineman, and Parker Henry, defensive lineman, received third team positions on the list that includes players from 1A through 6A divisions.

According to the sports-related website, Wilkins graded out at 96 percent with 18 pancakes. Henry was credited with 45 solo tackles, 51 assists, 19 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, five fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections.

Receiving honorable mention were senior quarterback Barrett Beal, junior running back Jaheim Newton, sophomore running back/defensive back Coy Lefevre, and sophomore receiver Cole Chapman.

The Lions advanced to the regional playoff in 2020, losing to Windthorst, 18-13, to finish the season with a 11-2 overall record.
