Weather brought an early end to the evening, but Albany Little League again had a sizable contingent Tuesday, April 25 at Crutcher Scott Field for Abilene Christian’s home baseball game against No. 14 Texas Tech.

The Wildcats led 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when play was stopped.

“We had 120 people sign up and go,” Albany Little League’s Paul Hamilton said. “It was a great game before the thunderstorm and lightning hit, and I think the kids had a good time. Each one got a hot dog, chips, a drink, and a ticket to the game for $5, so it was a pretty good deal for everybody.”

Hamilton said the main benefit to the trip is exposing Little Leaguers to a higher level of play.

“The kids got to see the home team do really well against nationally ranked Texas Tech,” he said.

Hamilton said the size of the Albany group was almost the same as the one that watched last year’s game between the Red Raiders and Wildcats.

“We had good turnout from all the leagues, almost 100 percent of the players,” he said.
