One spot still remains for the 15th annual John Rose and Jim Law Memorial Albany Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament and Fajita Fiesta, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14 at Albany Golf Course.

The event benefits the Albany K Charity Scholarship Fund.

Entry fee for the four-person scramble is $50 per player, which includes the Fajita Fiesta. Golfers may purchase up to four mulligans at $10 apiece.

Entry deadline is Friday, Oct. 7.

For those wishing to enjoy the fajita lunch without playing golf, cost is $15.

Xi Chi Pi Tournament

A field of 22 teams took part in the third annual Xi Chi Pi Golf Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Albany Golf Course.

The threesome of Donnie Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, and Randy Walker shot 16-under over 18 holes to win the event, which raises funds for scholarships for Albany High School graduates.

“We had such a great turnout,” organizer Lauren Peacock said. “The weather was perfect, and it’s pretty entertaining watching a group of women host a golf tournament.”

Second place went to the team of Sam Balliew, Rodney Barton, and Charles Barrett at 13-under.

Finishing third were Lance Lefevre, Jody Lefevre, and Blaze Thomas at 10-under.

“We cannot thank our sponsors and our donors enough for making this event possible for us,” Peacock said. “As a sorority, we’re thrilled to have the support to be able to give back to our graduating seniors.”
