Albany sports fans are invited to attend the Athletic Booster Club’s annual hamburger supper next Monday, Aug. 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bank Park.

“Everybody is welcome; it’s a community event,” said Booster secretary Tisha Wilkins. “The ice cream is free! The hamburger meal is $7.”

Serving will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the program to follow.

The Albany Lion volleyball team, cross country team, cheerleaders, and football team will be introduced at the event, and the young girls cheer camp participants are expected to perform a variety of cheers and dance routines.

High school athletes eat free of charge, while the hamburger meal costs $7 for the general public.

“It is one of our major fundraisers,” said Wilkins. “We support every team and every sport, and donate money to every coach for every player. That enables them to get items that may not be in their regular budget.”

Set-up Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.

Parents and others can call Wilkins at 325-660-7443 to find out what needs to be done, or they can sign up by accessing a link on the club’s Facebook page by going to facebook.com/albanyabc/.

Junior high parents are asked to volunteer along with high school families.

Yard Signs & T-Shirts

Yard signs and t-shirts will be for sale at the event.

Yard signs for varsity athletes are $5, and the players can also buy t-shirts for the same amount.

Family members and other fans will pay $15 for their t-shirts.

“The football shirts have been ordered, and we’ll also have some generic Albany shirts,” said Wilkins. “We should have schedule posters available for handout.”

Souvenir items such as caps, water bottles, umbrellas, stadium seats, flip flops, and other products will be available after the football season starts from the “Spirit Shop” at the stadium.

“Ad sales (for the football program) were fabulous,” Wilkins said. “We added several pages this year with the increased number of seniors and several new businesses in town. Be watching for invoices in email and regular mail, and pay as soon as you can so we don’t have to send out reminders.”

Parents and other fans can sign up during the hamburger supper to help with club activities, such as serving as team parents for sports teams throughout the school year.

Several of the junior high sports teams still need team parents, as do some of the high school winter and spring sports.

Once the school year is underway, Booster Club members meet on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the high school library.

Fans of all school sports are invited to join the Booster Club.
