Flag football deadline set

Parents of boys and girls at Nancy Smith Elementary only have one more day to sign their children up to participate in the Albany NFL Flag Football league before tomorrow’s registration deadline.

The forms were sent home with students, and parents need to fill out the registration form and return it to the front desk of NSES by Friday, Sept. 7 along with the participation fee of $60 per child. 

“The fee covers insurance, shorts, jerseys, belts, field maintenance, refs, and trophies,” said league organizer Anthony Ceder.

In addition to the registration form, parents will need to fill out an online form at nflflag.com/parents and choose “Albany Texas Flag Football” when selecting a league.

“There is a discount for families with multiple children, and financial aid is available if needed,” Ceder said.

Games

All of the flag football games will be played in Albany, and the games will start the week of Sept. 24-28, according to Ceder.

Teams will be formed in four different age groups.

The youngest players, those in kindergarten and first grade, will have their games on Tuesdays.

Second and third grade students will play on Monday night most of the time, but two of the weeks they will play on Thursday.

The fourth and fifth graders will play on Monday nights.

“Sixth graders will have two teams and play NFL Flag Football against each other on Tuesdays,” said Ceder. 

The Super Bowl will be on the week of Nov. 12.
