Mark Conrad, Scout executive of the Texas Trails Council of the Boy Scouts will host a Cub Scout rally at the Nancy Smith Elementary School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. next Monday, Sept. 23.

Children from kindergarten through fifth grade who are interested in joining the Cub Scouts are encouraged to attend.

“Albany has a family Cub Scout pack, so both boys and girls are welcome to join,” said Conrad. “Boys who are in sixth grade and want to join Scouts USA can also attend the meeting to find out more information, but this rally is geared toward the Cub Scouts.”

Those who join the local Cub Scout troupe at the meeting will pay a total of $16, including $12 for pro-rated dues and $4 for a subscription to Scout Life magazine. Membership dues and the magazine subscription will run through the end of 2019.

“They will need a parent or guardian along with them to fill out paperwork, pay dues, and sign the forms,” Conrad said. “And we’d like for some of the parents to volunteer to help out with the Scouts.”

Conrad added that grant money will provide a Scout Handbook, normally priced at $17, and a yo-yo for every kid that registers at the rally.

To find out more information, or to sign up for Cub Scouts in Albany, parents can contact Teri Lucas at 325-762-5100 or Conrad at 325-370-7192 or mark.conrad@scouting.org.
