Sales tax down for Albany, up in Moran

The city of Albany will receive a sales tax allotment of $36,394 from the state this June. The amount is down 22.23 percent from the $46,797 payment received in June 2019.

Payments to date for the 2020 year to the city of Albany are $235,443, down by 21.41 percent from the comparable time last year, when payments of $299,589 had been made.

The city of Moran will receive a net payment of $2,300.18 this period for a 74.79 percent increase from the $1,316 received in June 2019.

Payments to date for the 2020 year to the city of Moran are $11,540, up 33.59 percent from the comparable time in 2019 when payments of $8,638 had been made.

The entire state of Texas tax allocations are down 11.7 percent from June 2019.

According to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts the COVID-19 pandemic caused widespread social distancing requirements to be put in place across most of the state of Texas in April, leading to  the steepest year-over-year decline in allocations since September 2009.
