William R. (Bill) Hicks of Windsor, Illinois, formerly of Albany, Texas, passed away peacefully on Jan. 16, 2020. He was 94 years old. 

He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on Dec. 3, 1925. He served in the U.S. Army and earned a Purple Heart for his heroic services. 

He moved to Albany in the early 1960s where he met and married Barbara Lee Lewallen. Together they raised their four children, Robert, Charla, Donna and Mike. Bill worked in the oil field industry. He was a school board member and a member of the United Methodist Church until he returned to Illinois in the early 1980s. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings; sons Robert Dean and Michael Lee; and grandson Chase Jimenez. 

He is survived by his wife in Illinois; daughters Charla Davis of Abilene, TX, Donna O’Dell and husband Terry of Archer City, and Connie Lipe and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. 

Bill was a kind and gentle man. He will be missed by all who loved him. PD
