William Moellendorf

Bill was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on November 26, 1937. He moved to San Antonio with his parents when he was 5 years old and lived there until he graduated high school. He then joined the Navy and spent two years in North Carolina. After leaving military service, he moved to Austin, Texas, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Texas. Bill then worked for the Austin Independent School District as the Director of Plant Management, designing all of its schools’ science labs. After 15 years, Bill went to work for an Austin-based architecture firm, Graber, Simmons, and Cowan, as a commercial architect. After several years, Bill returned to the Austin Independent School District as a consultant on all projects.

On January 1, 1983, Bill married the “love of his life,” Patricia Keesee Hawk, in Clyde, Texas. Pat moved with Bill to Austin. In 1985, they bought a home in Pflugerville, Texas, and lived there until retirement. Bill and Pat then moved to Rock Port, Texas, living the “RV” life for a while before making their final move to Albany, Texas, in 2018, where they made it their permanent home.

Bill loved yard work and took great pride in always having the best outdoor space. He was a magnificent cook and selflessly catered to Pat, his kids, and all his grandkids whenever they visited.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elanora Moellendorf; his daughter, Laura Bear; his son, Mark Moellendorf; his stepson, Anthony (Tony) Hawk; and his stepdaughter, Sonja Brake.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; son, David Moellendorf; stepdaughter, Monica Cleveland (David); granddaughters, Brittney Harmon (Zach), Casey Troyer (Sean), Kristen Taylor (Josh), Kayla Brake, Kelsie Hawk (Sebastian), Montana Schroeder (Eric), and Lacey Anderson; and grandsons, Justin Winters (Loran), Easton Hawk, and Jacob Cleveland, as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
