Walter Beams, age 52 of Albany, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8 at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church of Albany with Steve Waller officiating. Intermentwillfollowinthe Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7 at Morehart Mortuary of Albany.

Walter Reaves Beams was born Jan. 14, 1971, in Dallas, Texas to Drew Henderson Beams and Virginia Wells-Beams and was named after his uncle, Walter Jess and his godfather, Reaves Hickman.

He grew up in Dallas where he was an active outdoor sportsman, graduating from Highland Park High School in 1989. He continued his education at Arizona State University and the University of North Texas where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

HemarriedLaneChapman on Oct. 20, 2007, in Dallas. Walt loved football, fishing, hunting, cooking outdoors, and NASCAR. He was a lifelong fan of theOklahomaSoonersand Dallas Cowboys. His love and loyalty for his family was evident in everything he did from spending time with them to supporting themintheirtimesofneed.

This love and loyalty were also extended to his circle of friends who were many. He will be remembered for his big heart, bear hugs, and his contagious laughter that brought joy to all those around him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Drew Beams; and his grandparents.

Walt is survived by his wife, Lane Beams of Albany; his mother and stepfather, Virginia Beams-PryorandBobbyPryor;his step-mother, Jane Beams; hissister,ShannonBeams-Zundel and husband Lee; hisbrother-in-law,Michael Chapman and wife Carolyn; step-sister, Shelley Rhoades and husband Pete; niece and nephews, Cooper,Cecily,andAndrew Chapman, Brice Vowell-Zundel and wife Giorgia, T.J. Vowell-Zundel and wife Ashley; great nieces and great nephew, Mackenzie, Levi, Samara, and Sofia Vowell-Zundel.
