TOM HUMBER

Thomas Keith Humber, a long-time Albany resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 27 in Frisco, Texas. Tom was born onApril 14, 1936, at the family homestead on the farm owned by his parents, Walter and Lena Belle Humber. He was the oldest of the three siblings – Tom, Dick, and Harriet.

Tom was a 1954 graduate of Albany High School. He played right tackle on the football team and was on the District Champion team of 1953. His heart was forever an Albany Lion. Even when he was not living in Albany, he continued to watch their games on his computer or listen to them on the radio.

In 1958 Tom married Elizabeth Ann Maxwell at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church. They were married 52 years when she passed away in 2011. Tom is survived by his daughters, Tracy and Betsy; sons-in-law, Jim and John; four grandchildren Aaron, Adrianna, Anson, Alea; one greatgrandchild, John Mark Brady; and his sister, Harriet.

Tom actively volunteered in various Albany organizations, including leadershiprolesatMMPC, the Shackelford County Youth Livestock Show, and as a Fandangle cast member (bothinhighschooland as a 75 and 76 year old). He cherished Albany and its wonderful community of people.

A memorial for Tom is pending. Those interested in honoring Tom’s memory are encouraged to consider donations to one of these organizations close to Tom’s heart: the MMPC Mission Fund, MMPC Sallie Matthews Circle, the Albany Lions Athletic Booster Club, the Fandangle Association, the Feed Store, or the Old Jail Art Center.
