Shirley Hale, age 78 of Whitney, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021. Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, at the Albany Cemetery. Interment followed under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. 

Shirley Jean Evans was born Dec. 16, 1942 in Abilene, Texas to Malcolm Cecil “Jack” Evans and Clara Belle “Jane” Perkins Evans. She married Marvin Lee Hale in Lubbock, Texas on March 16, 1977 at the home of Justice of the Peace, Pam Gentry. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany. 

She loved driving around to look at sites, going fishing, shopping (she especially like shopping), family get togethers, and holidays. She loved Jesus Christ. Shirley loved antique malls and spending Marvin’s hard earned money. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her baby brother, Robert Evans; her grandson, William Joseph Hale; her nephew, Clint Evans.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 44 years, Marvin Hale of Whitney; her children, Sherry Dearing and husband Ben of Abilene, Connie Edgar of Seagoville, Jerry Don Edgar and wife Betty of Hernando, Mississippi, Billie Joe Hale and wife Amanda of Amarillo, and Melissa Hale of Whitney; grandchildren, Bryan Dearing, Jacqueline Simpson, Ivory Dearing, Desirae Tricomi, Anna Edgar, Michala Smith, and Faith Rawlinson; great grandchildren, Jacob Hale, Sammy Evans, Skyler Evans, Cadence Abbe, Jordan Abbe, Mariah Strong, Damien Strong, Dylon Strong, Jackson Smith, Tristan Dearing; two nephews, Clark Evans and Blake Evans.

Memorials may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at morehartmortuary.net. PD
