Sammy Kay Shirley, 77 of Albany, TX passed away on Nov. 25, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. 

The family will hold a private memorial service. Services are under direction of North’s Funeral Home.

Sam was born in Kermit, TX to Willie May and Franklin Homer Shirley on Oct. 1, 1942. He went to school in Odessa, TX. He worked in construction for most of his life, always working hard to provide for his family. 

He loved to joke and make people laugh, and could often be found spinning around the dance floor to a good country and western song. 

He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force. He was a good Christian man that loved the Lord and his family. His smile and love will be greatly missed.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Shirley; his parents Willie May and Franklin; step-dad Ben Mathis; his sisters Charlene Bomer and Gloria Ward; and nephews Dan Bomer and Steve Shirley, who was also his good friend.

He is survived by his children Troy Shirley of Abilene, TX, Kimberly Tackett and husband Lee of Athens, TX, Tammy Tomczak and her husband Dana of Graeagle, CA; his step-daughter Heather Bergquist; his brother Bo Shirley; nieces Joanna Shirley, Stacy Ricard and Carol Bomer; nephews Ron Bomer and Brett Ward; grandchildren Maggie Kay Shirley, Emmy Shirley, Zak Shirley, and Cooper Tomczak; great-grandson Hank Ray; and his first wife and friend Sandy Shirley.
