Rodney Alexander, age 51 of Albany, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019. Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Albany Cemetery with Pastor Paul Johnston officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Rodney Lee Alexander was born on April 18, 1968 in Long Beach, California to parents, Marshall Alexander and Linda Harris Alexander. He grew up in Albany, graduating from Albany High School in 1987. 

On Oct. 24, 1986, Rodney married Lori Bishop in Breckenridge. Rodney owned and operated his own construction company, Alexander & Son, for 20 years. 

In 2015, he was elected Mayor of Albany, and he proudly took on all mayoral duties for the community. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing guitar. 

He attended church at Friendship Baptist Church and was a member of the Albany Chamber of Commerce. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Linda Alexander; his grandparents, Arthur and Alma Harris, Joe and Ruby Webb; and one son, Matthew Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Alexander of Albany; three children, Dalynne Alexander, Cody Alexander (Kelly), all of Albany, Maddison Alexander (Tanner) of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Devita Wilcher and husband Keith of Lueders; three brothers, Robert Alexander of Munday, Brandon Alexander and wife Becky of Breckenridge, Edward Pratt of Shreveport, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Chey’Anne Weaver, James Weaver, Wyatt Alexander, Gatlyn Alexander, Gracelyn Alexander, Gwendalyn Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
