Robert P. “Rob” Childers, 85, of Granbury, Texas and former resident of Albany, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2023 at his home in Granbury.

Rob was born on Dec. 2, 1937 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Robert Jefferson Childers and Ola Jewel Parsons and was the youngest of seven children. Rob graduated from Garden City High School in 1956 and married Kathleen Crabtree in Lovington, New Mexico on May 31, 1957.

Rob is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Kathy, of Granbury, and three daughters, Penney Moore (Mike) of Granbury, Texas, Sherri Andrews of Lewisville, Texas and Gail Slater (Stan) of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, 13 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, and two grandsons.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation, 224 N. 2nd Street Suite 2, Dekalb, IL 60115 or ulf.org.

Rob donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical Center in support of medical research. The family will hold a celebration of life in Granbury, Texas on June 3, 2023. PD
