RICHARD WILSON

Richard Ray Wilson 68, of Albany passed away May 27, 2023. He was born on May 8, 1955 in Abilene Texas to Aubrey Leston Wilson and Ruby Nell Jennings Wilson.

Richard grew up in Hamby, Texas and graduated from Albany High School in 1973. He attended Tarleton State University. Richard married Sara Turner on Mar. 18, 1978 in Austin, Texas. Richard worked for the city of Albany for 10 years and retired from EBAA Iron after 27 years.

He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in all their athletic endeavors.  Most of all, he loved being dad to his kids, Pawpaw to his grandkids, and husband to his wife Sara of 45 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Martyne Turner, and brother-in-law James Turner.

Richard is survived by his wife Sara Wilson; daughters Kindal Mitchell, Jenna Klein and husband Nick Klein; son Mike Wilson and wife Miranda Wilson. Grandchildren Logan Mitchell, Sara Klein, Emily Klein, Roston Wilson, and Rynlee Wilson. Brothers Tommy Wilson and wife Leslie Wilson, Don Wilson; and sister Judy Short; sister-in-law Nancy Turner; and brother-in-law Mike Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

In true Richard Wilson fashion, he requested no service, therefore we will respect his wishes. Arrangements were made by Girdner Funeral Home in Abilene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes c/o Paul Johnston.

The family wants to thank you for all your prayers and support during this difficult time. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. PD
