PERRY SIMMONS
Perry Duff Simmons, 54, of Azle, passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 in Weatherford.
Funeral services cele-brating Perry’s life were held Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at the Springtown United Methodist Church in Springtown, Texas. Burial followed at the Veal Station Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family.
Perry was born on Sept. 6, 1964 in Weatherford, the youngest of five children, to Harold and Glendora Simmons. Perry received his bachelors degree from West Texas State University and later went on to get his masters degree in education. Perry was an educator, beginning his career as a girls’ coach at numerous schools. He went on to become vice-principal at elementary schools in Albany and Little Elm. He retired as principal at Baird High School. He had a close devotion to and kept in contact with many of his former students. He enjoyed watching adolescent sports and traveling – particularly to the beach. He also enjoyed singing in Albany’s Fandangle. Perry “never met a stranger” and will be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh.
Perry is survived by his son, Jathan Simmons; stepchildren, Josh and Jake Donowho; his sisters, Lorene Clerihew and Linda (Charlie) Russell; his brothers, Harold (Venice) Simmons, Jr. and Cliff Simmons; his aunt, Gwen Pennington; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents.
