Nelda Charleen Davis was born on Dec. 17, 1946 to Charles and Aileen Davis in Baird, Texas. She went to school in Putnam, Texas where she played basketball and was a cheerleader.

While in school, she met and fell in love with L.C. Donaway. They were married on Aug. 12, 1966 in Putnam. Together they had two daughters, Gay and Joy.

First and foremost, she was a wife, mother and a homemaker. She worked as a tax assessor in the Taylor County Courthouse and also for a couple of car dealerships. She was a cosmetologist for the last few years and substitute taught, which she loved.

She loved working with Emmaus organization. When she wasn’t working, her favorite activity was going to any Albany High School sports event. She loved her grandkids and her great grandkids wholeheartedly.

For many years, Charleen and L.C. have been affiliated with the AA  Alanon and Alaleen Programs and were very proud of their accomplishments.
