Monte Lewis, age 41 of Albany passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17 at Bethel Assembly with Pastor Luke Spraberry and Darrel Conway officiating. Interment followed at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Monte Alan Lewis was born Mar. 27, 1980 in Abilene, Texas to Ralph Edward “Eddie” Lewis and Judy Bowden Lewis. He graduated from Eula ISD where he was active in FFA, and played basketball and baseball. Monte was a member of the Callahan County Riding Club and a member of Boy Scouts of America. Following high school, he attended South Plains College and Cisco Junior College. Monte attended Hwy 36 Church of Christ as a youth and was currently a member of Bethel Assembly in Albany.

He was employed by Shackelford County PCT 2 and had previously worked as an equipment operator for Wagley Construction. He was also a cattle hauler for many years.

Monte married Jennifer Cook on Nov. 28, 2020 in Albany. Monte received the Honorary Lone Star FFA Degree at the FFA Convention in 2021. He was a big supporter of the Albany FFA and the Shackelford County Livestock Show.

Monte was an avid fan of all the Albany Sports teams. He loved attending the games and cheering on the Lions!

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Earl and Pheobe Lewis, Wayne Bowden, Lola McMurtrie Bowden.

Monte is survived by his wife, Jennifer Cook Lewis of Albany; his daughter, Madalyn Kay Lewis of Hillsboro; parents, Eddie and Judy Lewis of Abilene; his brother, Phillip Lewis and wife April of Salado; his sister, Katelyn Lewis of Abilene; nephews, Kaden Lewis and Ryden Lewis of Salado; aunts and uncles, Melvin and Sharon Lewis, Jerry and Carlotta Bowden, Carolyn Boeche, Cindy Drobena; numerous cousins, extended family and many friends who were like family to him.
