Joye “Loraine” Edgar, age 77 of Sweetwater, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022. A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 28 at the Albany Cemetery with Pastor Luke Spraberry officiating. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Joye Loraine Fancher was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Rotan, Texas to Donald Earl “Man” Fancher and Richard “Kate” Coan Fancher. She married William Cecil “Sonny” Edgar on July 4, 1965.

She and her husband enjoyed a life living on various West Texas ranches, where they raised their two daughters. Her passion for caring and helping others was portrayed in her everyday life.

She loved working in her yard (moving those big Shackelford County rocks) and being a true homemaker, from immaculate rooms to home cooked meals that would make you feel like a King or Queen.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, Man and Kate Fancher; husband, Sonny Edgar; and brother, Kelly Don Fancher.

Loraine is survived by her two daughters, Shelby Shipp and husband Damon Shipp of Roby, Jeanie Edgar of Fort Worth; twin sister, Joyce “Elaine” Shipp of Rotan; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Fancher of Sylvester; two grandchildren, Sunni Jay Shipp of Roby, Sydney Bachman and husband Kyle Bachman of Roby; one great grandson, Alec Joel Bachman of Roby; and numerous other family members and friends.
