Linda Jeanette Holson
September 19, 1950 – April 29, 2025
Linda Jeanette Holson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2025, passing peacefully in Abilene, Texas after a long and courageous battle with her health. She was 74 years old.
Born in Mena, Arkansas on September 19, 1950, Linda was the daughter of Doyle and Jeanette Holson of Albany, Texas, both of whom preceded her in death. Though her journey in life took her to many places, her heart was always rooted in the love of her family and her steadfast faith.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Kathy Mashburn and husband JR of Ovalo, TX, and Susan Balliew of Albany, TX. She found immense joy in being an aunt to Treva Bowsher of Abilene, and Timothy (Candy) and Jeffrey (Carie) Balliew of Albany. Her nurturing spirit continued with their children and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and spoiled at every opportunity.
Though Linda never had biological children, she embraced her stepdaughter, Teri Wisinger of Texarkana, as her own. She adored her grandsons, Kameron and Morgan, and beamed with pride over their growing families.
Linda graduated from Albany High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Anson, later settling in Snyder, and eventually making a longtime home in Big Spring. There, she became a member of the First Baptist Church. Linda was known by her neighbors and friends as someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand—generous, thoughtful, and deeply caring.
Linda held many different jobs throughout the years. She was a woman of strength. She never shied away from hard work, whether it was changing her own oil, tending her beautiful yard, or preparing a meal. She lovingly cared for children, the disabled, and the elderly. She sewed costumes on short notice, and shared her time and talents with grace and humility.
Returning to her hometown later in life, Linda attended Friendship Baptist Church. Her deep love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived—always giving, always serving, always praying. We have no doubt she is now in His presence, joyfully embracing her heavenly reward free from pain and suffering.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Clyde Nursing Home for their compassionate care over the past four years. Special gratitude also goes to Mary Beth Slaughter and Susan Hooker for their loving support and exceptional caregiving during Linda’s final months on hospice. Linda felt truly blessed by their kindness—and their cooking!
Linda requested no formal funeral service, and her family honors her wishes with peace in their hearts, having had the blessing of being with her before she departed this world. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew her.
