LEONA MARTYN

Leona Martyn, age 97 of Albany, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22 at First United Methodist Church of Albany with Rev. Tim Trimble officiating.  Interment will follow in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. 

Leona Riley was born Aug. 23, 1923 in Woodson, Texas to Dewey Riley and Villa Stubblefield Riley. On Aug. 7, 1945, she married R.E. “Bob” Martyn in Abilene, Texas. 

She was employed for many years by the First National Bank of Albany until her retirement. ­Leona was a very dedicated employee and she loved her job. She was a member at the First Christian Church in Albany. 

Leona overflowed with love and joy, and her love was unconditional. Her granddaughter and great grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved being involved in everything they did. 

She was all about faith, family and friends. She loved the Lord and was a great example of her faith. 

Mrs. Martyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister and brother-in-law, Johney Thomas and Bill Thomas.

Mrs. Martyn is survived by her one son, Dewey Martyn and wife Vicky of Burleson; one granddaughter, Melissa Martyn of Burleson; and four great grandchildren, Hayden, Carson, Kasen and Rhylen, all of Burleson.
