JOE MAX WALKER

Joe Max Walker of Albany, Texas, born in Wink, TX on April 3, 1936 was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Dec. 30, 2018.

Joe Max Walker graduated from Kermit High School in 1955.  He married the love of his life Mary Ellouise (Medcalf) the day after her high school graduation, May 25, 1957.

Joe Max was established in many trades including oil and gas, heating and cooling, home building and repair, owner and operator of a successful concrete company and even a licensed private and instrument rated pilot.

In 1990 Joe and Mary purchased a ranch between Albany and Throckmorton Texas, branded Frying Pan Ranch at the request of Tom Lineberry.

In 1996, the family sold the concrete business and moved to the ranch permanently where Joe and Mary continued to farm and ranch.

Joe Max was an avid trap shooter since 1963. He received many recognitions and awards but most importantly, he gained a second family in the trap shooting world.

Though he was an accomplished businessman, farmer and rancher, his most prized accomplishments were his wife, family and friends, and the legacy he has built. Wherever Mary was, Joe Max was never too far behind.

For every trapshoot, sporting event, and family gathering, they were present and together. They had the kind of love everyone dreams of.

Through the good times and the hard times, their love prevailed.  Their commitment and respect for one another was passed down to their sons and grandkids for their respective spouses and taught the true definition of a loving relationship.

The character of Joe Max was second to none.  He was the patriarch of the Walker family and embodied Christian values. He was a mentor, provider, hardworking, generous loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who never met a stranger.

Not only a patriarch but “PaPa” to family and friends, Joe Max made The Frying Pan Ranch a home base always open and welcoming to all.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellouise Walker; three sons, Jube Walker and wife Tammy, Randy Walker and wife Becky, and Alan Walker and wife LaCresa; three granddaughters Macy Schafer and husband Tim, Kelby Stuckey and husband Britton, Mc-Kenna Peavy and husband Preston; four grandsons, Kolt Walker and wife Jackie, Chase Walker and wife Melissa, Zach Walker and wife Tiffany, and Zane Walker; four great-granddaughters, Zoey Schafer, Kyndal Schafer, Kyleigh Ford, Braleigh Walker, and Logan Ann Walker on the way; and one great-grandson Davis Ray Walker.

He is preceded in death by his mother Anna Jewel Cunningham, father John Henry, and brother John Henry Walker Jr.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday Jan. 4, 2019, officiated by Brother Bill Campbell, at Bethel Assembly, 5345 Hwy 180, Albany, TX. with viewing prior from 12:00-2:00 p.m., under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch at www.ben richey.org or PO Box 6839, Abilene, TX 79608. PD
