James (Jim) Lee Sanders II, 76, of Budapest. Hungary, was born on Jan. 17, 1942 in Abilene, Texas. Jim was headed home when he died in Frankfurt, Germany on Dec. 23, 2018, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, to whom he dedicated the last 40 years of his life.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church where Jim was baptized as an infant and was a member as  a youth. The Rev. Anthony Ceder will be officiating the service and burial will be in the Albany Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Sanders I and Virginia Lee Lively Sanders, and a sister, Barbara Ann Kazen.

Jim attended Nancy Smith Elementary School in Albany through seventh grade, then moved with his family to Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Texas High School in 1960 where he was active in football, track, and on the Texarkana swimming team. He continued his education as a Corps member of the Fighting Texas Aggie class of 1964, graduating with a degree in Agronomy. At Texas A&M Jim joined the Texas Federation of Young Republicans and served as State Treasurer.

Jim joined Christ for the Nations in the 1970s in the Dallas area and that organization sponsored his first mission trip to Lebanon, which began his mission work around the world during which he established many churches. He leaves behind a legacy of healing and preaching the mercy and grace of God in Jesus Christ, believing all people should hear the gospel and be born again.

Jim is survived by a brother-in-law, Federal District Judge George P. Kazen of Laredo; two sisters, Judith Jane and husband Ed Compton of Albany, Texas, and Virginia Lee and husband Dr. Laurence Dotin of Detroit, Texas; five children: Hollyn and husband Joe Maddox of Texarkana, Texas; James Lee Sanders III and wife Zina of Fort Worth, Texas; Rachel and husband Darrell McEwan of Toowoomba, Australia; Nathan Alexander Sanders of Brisbane, Australia; and Sarah Tamera Sanders of Grapevine, formally of Brisbane, Australia.
