Albany News

Born April 6, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Jesse and Mary Cleveland, Jesse (Jay) Mack Cleveland passed away July 15, 2020 in Ponca City, Oklahoma with family by his side.

Unlike previous times, this is not a ploy to avoid creditors or people he despised. He assures us that he is gone. He will be greatly missed.

Jesse was a 1970 graduate from Albany High School in Albany, Texas. He had a psychology degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Jesse enjoyed gardening, bargain shopping, holiday parties with family, and as odd as it sounds, he enjoyed his work.

Jesse was a great story-teller and knew the family history. He was a unique and caring uncle who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Jesse was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glover and Ruby Cleveland of Albany, Texas.; father Jesse Watson Cleveland and mother Mary Jo Cleveland (Haskew); and sister Mary Cathleen Leggett of Yukon, Oklahoma.

Jesse is survived by his brother Jeffery Allen Cleveland, of Yukon, Oklahoma; four nieces, six nephews, seven great nieces, 13 great nephews, eight great great nieces, five great great nephews, and many cousins and friends.

Following Jesse’s wishes, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers and in his honor, go order a cherry lime Dr Pepper from Sonic. Thank you to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and all who sent cards and encouraging thoughts at this time.
