Jane Elizabeth Burroughs, 86, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 of complications arising from a long battle with vascular dementia. 

Jane was born at home on Jan. 29, 1932 in Moran, Texas to Fletcher and Etoile Bratton as the first of three daughters. Jane attended school in Moran, Texas. She married Luther Duane Latimer early in life and proceeded to have five children. Jane and L.D. owned the “Kermit Drive-In” restaurant for several years before they divorced, and she relocated to Odessa with their children in the mid 60s. 

In Odessa, Jane went to school for secretarial training and met Guy Burroughs. They enjoyed camping and fishing together in many of the national parks and were later married. Jane and Guy relocated to Lubbock, Texas. 

Jane worked in variety of fields throughout the years including florist, jewelry clerk, waitress and cashier before landing in the banking industry. She retired after 17 years of service at American Bank of Commerce in Wolfforth, Texas. 

Jane was very active in the church throughout her life and had a special church family in every city she resided. She was member at Caprock Church of Christ in Lubbock for over 20 years before relocating to Flower Mound, Texas where she resided with her daughter Candy Dunn and husband, Mickey. 

Jane was a member at West Main Church of Christ in Lewisville, Texas for over 25 years. She enjoyed her church family immensely and volunteered to visit ill and ailing members at the local hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. 

Jane had an amazing zest for life, always had a snappy comeback ready and enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. She will be missed dearly by the many people who had an opportunity to spend time with her. 

Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Etoile (nee Bankston) Bratton; father, Fletcher Bratton; sister, Martha Balliew and two sons, Tommy and Joey Latimer. 

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Fisher of Odessa, Texas; two sons, James Latimer and wife, Sylvia of Germany, and Jeff Latimer of Midland, Texas; one daughter, Candy Dunn and husband, Mickey of Flower Mound, Texas; one step-daughter, Vickie Trotter of Ozark, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Heather Goolsby and husband, Davin of Flower Mound, Texas; Alea Latimer of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe Africa; Derek Latimer and Rachael of Haltom City, Texas; Cheyenne Latimer of Rotenburg, Germany; Cody Dunn of Flower Mound, Texas; Callum Latimer of Amsterdam, Netherlands; Deon Latimer of Odessa, Texas; Spencer Latimer of Germany; Garrick Latimer of Germany and one great grandchild, Grayson Latimer of Royce City, Texas. 

Services were held in Lewisville, Texas at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 25. Jane was laid to rest on Aug. 27 in Moran, Texas within the Latimer family plot of the Moran Cemetery.
