Born Sept. 3, 1958, to Faye Elizabeth (Lee) Gilstrap and Walter Dee Gilstrap Sr. of Lampasas Texas. Drexel Gilstrap passed away April 18, 2023 in El Paso, Texas.

Drexel is survived by his wife, Donna Gilstrap; daughter, Tawnya (Gilstrap) Branscum; sons, Drexel Gilstrap, Jr. and Dalton Gilstrap. Drexel is also survived by his two brothers, Walter Dee Gilstrap, Jr. of Abilene, Texas and Kelley Dee Gilstrap of Angleton, Texas. He is also survived by three  grandchildren, Gaven Branscum, Garit Branscum, Landon Gilstrap and numerous nieces and nephews.

Drexel was preceded in death by Walter D Gilstrap, Sr., Faye Elizabeth (Lee) Gilstrap and sister, Donna Faye Gilstrap.

Drexel grew up in Lampasas, attending Lampasas High School. He joined the United States Army in 1975, serving with the 101st Airbourne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After finishing his military career, Drexel went off on various adventures before becoming a nurse and working at Abilene Regional Hospital as an ER Trauma Nurse.

Drexel, Donna and Dalton moved to Pecos, Texas in 2009 after his retirement from nursing. Drexel was associated with the NRA, Wounded Warriors Projects, and St Jude. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and camping.

Viewing was held April 21 at the Morehart Mortuary in Albany, Texas. Funeral services were held April 22 at 8603 US Hwy 283, Albany, Texas. PD
