Dorothy Mott Brittingham, known as Dotsy, passed away on April 2, 2023. She lived a rich and full life and will be forever remembered by her countless friends and family.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1927 and raised in Bayshore, Long Island, where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood sailing with her brother and leading friends on mischievous exploits. She was a proud alumna of Wellesley College and recalled her university years as some of the happiest in her life. Dotsy loved a warm spring day, lively conversation, and reminiscing about her many adventures over the years. Her generous spirit, fierce independence, and kind heart won’t soon be forgotten by the loved ones she leaves behind, nor will her magnetism and unique ability to befriend people of all ages and generations.

Dotsy leaves behind many lessons including the importance of showing kindness to others, speaking your mind and always helping those in need. Hers was a life well lived.

She is survived by her brother Charlie Mott, New York, NY and her children John Brittingham (Mona), Nashville, TN, Susie Gregg (Clark), Ft. Worth, TX, Harold Brittingham (Donese), Louisville, CO, Margaret Brant (Kevin), Port Matilda, PA, Tom Brittingham (Connie Culpepper), Nashville, TN, and Sally Smith, Nashville, TN as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest in the Reynolds Bend cemetery on Lambshead Ranch Saturday, May 6 next to her husband, Thomas Evans Brittingham II. The service will begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch following at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to The Old Jail Art Center or a charity of your choice. PD
