Donald “Don” Gene Clevenger, former long time Albany pastor, went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2024.

Don was born on April 6, 1959, in Pratt, Kansas, the son of Dallas and Carol Prather Clevenger, stepmother Charlene Clevenger. He was the second born of identical twins.

He graduated from Pratt Senior High School in 1978. Don then attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, graduating May 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biblical Theology & Pastoral Ministry. He met his wife, Mary Helen Loya, at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. They were married on Aug. 2, 1980 in Abilene. Don and Mary Helen pastored churches in Kansas and Texas. He pastored First Assembly of God Church in Albany for 23 years and then New Beginnings Church for four years. They moved to Red Oak, Texas in June 2017.

Don was a staff Chaplain at Hendrick Medical Centerfor20years.Healso worked for Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home for one year and Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home in Albany for more than 20 years.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary Helen of Red Oak; son, Rev. Joshua L. Clevenger and wife Jami of Booker, Texas; daughter, Misty D. Young and husband Ezzard Young Jr. of Palmer Texas; son, Donovan D. Clevenger and wife, Kirstie of Shallowater, Texas; sister, Genevieve M. Clevenger Kloefkorn and husband, Alan of Harriman, TN; stepsister, Lynda Eubank Farmer of Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren, Haylee, Elijah, and Dax Clevenger; Jacob, Kaleb, and Isaac Young; Harper, Kase, and Owen Clevenger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Carol; father, Dallas; stepmother, Charlene Clevenger Kennedy; identical twinbrother, Ronald; brother, Randy; and stepbrother, David Eubank.
