DINTY BOWMAN

Dinty Bowman, age 73 of Albany, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8 at First Baptist Church of Albany with John Tunnell officiating. Interment followed in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Dinty Shawn Bowman was born Jan. 10, 1949 in Baird, Texas to parents James Verlin Bowman and Frances Ione Vestal. He graduated from Albany High School and then went on to attend Cisco Junior College.

On July 15, 1972, Dinty married Sherry Shelton in Fort Griffin. He never met a stranger or failed to talk to everyone he ever saw. He loved calling and talking to his buddies, and he loved them all.

Dinty had many interests besides the gift of gab; he also enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes. Most of all, he loved the Lord and was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church.

He enjoyed going on the 20 plus mission trips with his church family. Dinty loved his family with all of his heart. Sometimes it was picking on us or to aggravate everyone.

Sometimes we could choke him but all in all we knew how much he loved us and how much we loved him. He will be missed. As Dinty would say as he leaves – “Love ya!”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlin and Frances Bowman; one brother, Kerry Bowman.

Dinty is survived by his wife, Sherry Bowman; his children, Jennifer Bowman, Leslie Bowman and Shamone Weaver; one sister, Jean Bills; and four grandchildren, Julia, Jalea, Shawn and J’Cee.
