Bobby E. Moore, age 93 of Moran, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albany with Pastor Tom Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the Moran Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at Morehart Mortuary of Albany.

Bobby Eugene Moore was born on April 27, 1929 in Ranger, Texas to parents Joe R. Moore and Anna Etta (Boyd) Moore. He attended school in Morton Valley and Cisco Junior College. He moved to Duncan, Oklahoma and worked for Halliburton.

Bobby went to college at North Texas University, where he met Avelyn Elizabeth Hohertz. Bobby graduated with a degree in business and on Feb. 3, 1952, he married Avelyn (Ava) in Denton, Texas.

Bobby started his sales career with Hughes Tool Company, and they moved to several towns in Texas. Bobby and Ava had two daughters, Amy Carol and Connie Ann. In 1960, the family moved to Moran, and Bobby began working for Security Bit Company, and sold drilling bits all over this area, was known as “Button” and made many friends in the oil & gas business.

After retiring from his sales career, he began farming and ranching in Shackelford and Callahan Counties. Bobby and Ava also enjoyed owning several race horses and traveled to many races before Ava was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Bobby was a devoted husband and cared for Ava for 25 years before her death in 2011. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church in Moran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna Moore; his wife, Avelyn Moore; one brother, Billy Joe Moore; and one daughter, Connie Ann Moore.

Mr. Moore is survived by his daughter, Amy and husband Zane Jones of Baird; sister, Mary Nell Holland of Moran; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Ceci Torn and husband Chris of Houston, Keri Hebel and husband Allen of Albany, Desi Zacharias and husband Mark of San Antonio, Tera Clarkson and husband Jeff of Plano, Josi Hudson and Mike Sawyers, of Albany, Drew Hudson of Dallas, and Brit Hudson and wife Magan of Albany; and 14 great grandchildren, Caroline, Caitie, Mary Claire, Christopher, and Charles Henry Torn, Ava, Isaac, Lewis, and Luke Zacharias, Trent, Malorie, and Macey Clarkson, Ayden Balliew, and Nolan Hudson. Bobby was lovingly known as “Pappy” to his family.

Memorials may be made to the Moran Cemetery Association, First Baptist Church of Moran, the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Association, or to Trinity Lutheran Church of Albany and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net. PD
